Biological Activity for CART (62-76) (rat, human)

CART (62-76) (rat, human) is a cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) peptide fragment that inhibits food intake. Attenuates NPY-induced feeding and decreases food intake in food-restricted goldfish, and induces anxiogenic-like effects in elevated plus-maze test in rats. Modulates the activity of striatal noradrenergic, and corticostrial and hypothalamic serotoninergic systems, with no major effect on dopaminergic pathways in rat brain.

Peptides Involved in Appetite Modulation Scientific Review

Peptides Involved in Appetite Modulation Scientific Review

Written by Sonia Tucci, Lynsay Kobelis and Tim Kirkham, this review provides a synopsis of the increasing number of peptides that have been implicated in appetite regulation and energy homeostasis; putative roles of the major peptides are outlined and compounds available from Tocris are listed.
