Submit ReviewMelatonin is an endogenous hormone that acts as an agonist at melatonin receptors MT1 and MT2. Exhibits a prominent role in the control of circadian rhythm, displays immunomodulatory activity and acts as a powerful antioxidant in vivo.
Melatonin is also offered as part of the Tocriscreen 2.0 Max. Find out more about compound libraries available from Tocris.

This product is an excellent choice for in vitro interaction studies with melatonin receptors. Given that its the endogenous ligand of these receptors, it offers an important point of comparison when testing ligands with unknown activity profiles. In our lab, we typically use this product in micromolar concentrations in all buffers when handling melatonin receptors, unless a more highly stabilizing or potent ligand (such as 2-phenylmelatonin or ramelteon) is needed. These ligands can be more expensive, making melatonin preferable in some cases. We found this product consistently of the highest quality. Highly recommended
