Biological Activity for Stattic

Stattic is a small molecule inhibitor of STAT3. Inhibits binding of tyrosine-phosphorylated peptide motifs to STAT3 SH2 domain and inhibits STAT3 activation, dimerization and nuclear translocation. Displays selectivity over STAT1, STAT5, c-Myc/Max, Jun/Jun and Lck. Induces apoptosis in STAT3-dependent cancer cell lines.

Static inhibition of STAT3 pathway.
By Mark Stauffer on 01/04/2018
Assay Type: In Vitro
Species: Human
Cell Line/Tissue: U87

Used to potentially inhibit signal transduction of the stat3 pathway in U87 cells, and was compared with other potential inhibitors in their effectivness of signal transduction when treating cells with pathway activators. It was assessed using RT-PCR for markers of pathway activation to see what inhibitor was most effective.
