4EGI-1 is an inhibitor of eIF4E:eIF4G interaction; prevents eIF4E binding to eIF4G. Binds eIF4E and inhibits cap-dependent translation but not initiation factor-independent translation. Exhibits activity against Jurkat and A549 cells.
