Peptides
Peptides are chains formed of principally α-amino acids linked by amide bonds. Peptides are normally composed of the 20 naturally occurring L-amino acids, but may also contain D-amino acids, unnatural amino acids, disulfide bridges, be linear or cyclic, or be further chemically modified. Numerous peptides exist in all living organisms where they perform a multitude of biological functions.
