Janelia Fluor® Fluorescent Dyes Recognized in 2018 CiteAb Awards
Dyes are Awarded "Highly Commended" in the Innovative Product Category
Tocris Bioscience, part of the Biotechnology division of Bio-Techne, is proud to announce that its Janelia Fluor® range of fluorescent dyes was awarded “Highly Commended” in the 2018 CiteAb awards Innovative Product of the Year category.
Tocris launched the first products in the Janelia Fluor® dyes range, JF646 and JF549, in February 2017. These innovative small molecule fluorescent dyes are very bright and photostable, and importantly, they are cell-permeable, enabling live-cell intracellular imaging. The dyes were designed and developed at the Janelia Research Campus, part of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), in the lab of Professor Luke Lavis. Tocris acquired a license from HHMI to make the dyes commercially available and has recently added three new dyes to the Janelia Fluor® range.
Rob Felix, Head of Product Management at Tocris commented, “The Janelia Fluor® range truly represents a breakthrough in fluorescent dyes for microscopy, enabling life science researchers to acquire enhanced images, and it’s great that this has been recognized by the CiteAb awards.”
Janelia Fluor® dyes are suitable for use with both conventional imaging techniques, such as confocal microscopy, as well as super-resolution microscopy (SRM) techniques, including dSTORM. In addition photoactivatable derivatives have been developed that are applicable in photo-activated localization microscopy (PALM).
