Motilin Receptor
The motilin receptor is a Gq/11-protein-coupled receptor that mediates progastrokinetic effects. It is found at its highest concentrations in the nerves of the antral wall of the stomach and is also found at significant levels throughout the smooth muscle of the upper GI tract.

The motilin receptor is a Gq/11-protein-coupled receptor that mediates progastrokinetic effects. It is found at its highest concentrations in the nerves of the antral wall of the stomach and is also found at significant levels throughout the smooth muscle of the upper GI tract and in the enteric nervous system.
The motilin receptor promotes gastric emptying after food intake and increases smooth muscle contraction in the GI tract. The motilin receptor has not been identified in rodents, but has been cloned in rabbits and humans. The human motilin receptor gene is localized on chromosome 13q14-q21.
