Chemical Name: O-3-Deoxy-4-C-methyl-3-(methylamino)-β-L-arabinopyranosyl-(1-6)-O-[2,6-diamino-2,3,4,6-tetradeoxy-a-D-glycero-hex-4-enopyranosyl-(1-4)]-2-deoxy-N1-ethyl-D-streptamine sestersulfate
Biological Activity for Netilmicin sulfate
Binds the transactivation response element (TAR) of HIV-1 (Kd = 1.35 μM) and inhibits its interaction with Tat. Exhibits >35-fold selectivity for HIV-1 TAR over HIV-2 TAR or A-site and RRE RNA. Inhibits Tat-mediated HIV-1 activation and replication in T-cells in vitro. Also semisynthetic aminoglycoside antibiotic.
