Biological Activity for Tobramycin

Tobramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. Exhibits antibacterial activity against strains of Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas and Staphylococcus aureus. Shown to protect lung epithelial cells in vitro against injury from cystic fibrosis bronchial secretions and H2O2.

Mechanism of action of tobramycin was studied along with other aminoglycoside antibiotics such as neomycin and gentamicin.Clinical isolate of P. aeruginosa, PAO1 (PAO1-RH) used to do susceptibility tests.
