CaV3.x Channels (T-type)
CaV3.x channels (T-type) are low-voltage activated channels with low single channel conductance. These channels are found in cells with rhythmic firing patterns where repetitive firing of action potentials is required. For example, they contribute the pacemaker potential of sinoatrial node cells in the heart, and also to the spontaneous spiking of neurons in the thalamus.

CaV3.x channels (T-type) are low-voltage activated channels with low single channel conductance. They are named T-type for their transient opening, resulting from their rapid and complete inactivation at positive membrane potentials. These channels are thought to consist only of a CaV3.x α1-subunit, with no auxiliary subunits.
Due to their properties and channel kinetics, CaV3.x channels are found in cells with rhythmic firing patterns where repetitive firing of action potentials is required. For example, they contribute the pacemaker potential of sinoatrial node cells in the heart, and also to the spontaneous spiking of neurons in the thalamus.
