Used for: fluorescent cholesterol staining. Binds sterols in fungal membranes. Also inhibits formation of the pathological form of prion protein (PrP-res) from the normal membrane-bound (PrP-sen) form.
Application: confocal microscopy.
Properties and Photophysical Data: excitation and emission maxima (λ) are 405 nm and 420-480 nm, respectively.

Filter by:
Fix the cells with 4% PFA for 15 min at room temperature; permeabilisation not required; incubate the cells with 0.5 mg/mL Fillipin in 3% BSA for 4 h at room temperature; mount the coverslips with DAPI-free moviol. Excite the cells with 405 nm laser, and collect signals at 410-500 nm.
