Serotonin 5-HT4 receptors are located primarily in nigrostriatal and mesolimbic systems and smooth muscle. The receptor plays a role in memory and learning, anxiety, visual perception and smooth muscle relaxation.

Serotonin 5-HT4 receptors are located primarily in nigrostriatal and mesolimbic systems and smooth muscle. The receptor plays a role in memory and learning, anxiety, visual perception and smooth muscle relaxation. The human 5-HT4 receptor gene has been localized to chromosome 5 (5q31-33).
