BDY 630-X, SE is a fluorescent red BDY (BODIPY® or boron-dipyrromethene) dye for the labeling of amines. Displays high fluorescence quantum yield and high extinction coefficient and is relatively insensitive to pH change. This dye contains a seven-atom aminohexanoyl ("X") spacer between the fluorophore and the NHS ester group, reducing the potential for interactions between the fluorophore and conjugated biomolecule. The hydrophobic nature of BDY 630-X makes it ideal for labeling lipid and cell membranes. BDY 630-X also exhibits narrow emission bandwidths and has a relatively long excited-state lifetime, making it ideal for fluorescence polarization assays and two-photon excitation (TPE) microscopy. Excitation maximum ~625 nM; emission maximum ~640 nM.
For more information on how BDY 630-X, SE may be used, see our protocol: Conjugation Protocol for Amine Reactive Dyes.
