Biological Activity for BDY TMR-X, SE

BDY TMR-X, SE is a fluorescent yellow BDY (BODIPY® or boron-dipyrromethene) dye for the labeling of amines. Exhibits similar excitation and emission spectra to dye TRITC. Displays high fluorescence quantum yield and high extinction coefficient and is relatively insensitive to pH change. This dye contains a seven-atom aminohexanoyl ("X") spacer between the fluorophore and the NHS ester group, reducing the potential for interactions between the fluorophore and conjugated biomolecule. The hydrophobic nature of BDY TMR-X makes it ideal for labeling lipids and cell membranes. BDY TMR-X also exhibits narrow emission bandwidths and has a relatively long excited-state lifetime, making it ideal for fluorescence polarization assays and two-photon excitation (TPE) microscopy. Excitation maximum ~544 nM; emission maximum ~570 nM.

BODIPY® is a registered trademark of Molecular Probes.
